Dinner With a View
Have you ever felt like eating a southern-style dinner on a riverboat, cruising the Cumberland River in Nashville, Tennessee? If your answer to this oddly specific idea of a romantic night out is a resounding yes, then we might have just the right treat for you.
The General Jackson Showboat is a 274-foot-long paddlewheel riverboat that offers dinner cruises on the Cumberland River. So far so good, but its culinary offer is not the only aspect of the cruise that should get you excited: Expect constantly changing live acts to accompany your meal, alternating regularly between country music performances and comedy shows.
Before you ask: The boat was indeed named after native Nashvillian Andrew Jackson, who served as the seventh President of the United states from 1829 to 1837.
Departure Times & How to get There
You can choose between a daytime cruise, departing at noon, and a evening cruise departing from 7:00 PM. Cruises are between two and a half to four hours in length. Boarding starts 45 minutes before departure.
Getting there by car is a breeze: The General Jackson shares a free-of-charge parking lot with Opry Mills. From there, you can get to boarding directly across from the General Jackson Plaza.
