Welcome to the First State
Delaware proudly holds the distinction of being the first state to ratify the United States Constitution in 1787, making the small, charming state a pivotal player in American history.
Cities in Delaware
Dover – As the city that played a central role in the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Dover has a lot to teach about the colonial and post-colonial history of the United States. If you’re interested in sports or just have gas running through your veins, then a visit to Dover International Speedway is in order.
Wilmington – At 28 square miles, the tranquil city of Wilmington is a real business magnet. Almost half of all Fortune 500 companies have their official headquarters in the small city – the main reason for this is low taxes and low administrative costs. But there is also a lot to see here for tourist trips.
Best Time to Visit
Delaware’s climate is humid and temperate, with July being the hottest month of the year for Delaware, averaging high temperatures of around 75°F.
This makes summer by far the best season to visit the State.
