A Ship of Biblical Proportions
Good news, everyone! If you want to visit Noah’s ark from the book of Genesis, all you have to do is plan a trip to Williamstown, Kentucky.
Hold on… Kentucky? That seems a little far from ancient Mesopotamia? Well, that’s certainly true, but then what are the odds of discovering remnants of a ship that has sailed thousands of years ago?
The Ark Encounter in Williamstown, KY, is therefore not a restored original, but nevertheless a faithful replica of the great boat that saved thousands of species from drowning in a flood of truly biblical proportions.
The landlocked ship is a true colossus, consisting of 3.3 million board feet of wood. It stands impressively in the center of the large park area, which also has its own animal park and petting zoo.
Anyone curious about how Noah and his family might have saved two animals of each kind from the great flood should definitely undertake the pilgrimage to Williamstown.
Noah’s Ark in Kentucky also has dedicated space allotted for a gift shop. We’re not exactly sure how historically accurate this addition is, but it makes for a nice way to browse through some ark-inspired memorabilia to gift to your friends and relatives.
