America’s National Park of Speed
What fans like to refer to as “America’s National Park of Speed” is nestled in the picturesque rolling mountains of Kettle Moraine. It is almost impossible to wish for a better backdrop for first-class sporting events.
The first race was held at the racetrack in 1955 and began to draw more visitors to Elkhart Lake and the state of Wisconsin each year. Road America is among a very select group of permanent racetracks whose original layout has hardly changed over the decades, which only helped the circuit gain its legendary status among race fans.
Today, more than 400 events take place every year – sometimes several a day. In order to be broad, the circuit now consists of more than just the 4-mile race track. Those who would like to step on the gas pedal themselves can pay a visit to the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex, for example. The outdoor kart track is inside the carousel, which is the combination of turns 8 and 9.
Upcoming Races at Road America
As a true petrolhead you can rejoice, because Road America is always busy! In addition to the long-standing NASCAR Xfinity Series event, the NASCAR Cup Series has also returned to racing on the Wisconsin racetrack in 2021.
The IndyCar Series has also been a regular guest in Elkhart Lake since 2016 and provides exciting races year after year, in which everything is open until the last lap.
