Museum Overview
The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum collects, preserves, and operates vintage locomotives and artifacts related to the region’s railroad history. Since its inception in 1961, the museum has grown to become one of the premier railroad preservation organizations in the United States.
Main feature of the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum is its operational historic railroad, referred to as the “Tennessee Valley Railroad”. The museum railway operates several steam and diesel locomotives as well as a large number of historic wagons. The heritage railroad rides offer visitors the opportunity to take a nostalgic trip down memory lane and enjoy the beauty of the Tennessee countryside.
The museum offers a variety of rides and events, including day trips, themed rides, steam locomotive festivals and even special Christmas rides. During the rides, you have the opportunity to travel in the historic carriages and experience the atmosphere of bygone times.
