The Memorial
Being one of the most prominent leaders of the Civil Rights Movement, it is no surprise that Dr. Martin Luther King got his own memorial along the National Mall’s Tidal Basin.
The four-acre large memorial site sits in direct line of sight to the location of Luther King’s famous “I have a dream” speech, which he held on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963.
The memorial’s proximity to other memorials around the Tidal Basin make this one a convenient place to stop by during your visit to the National Mall.
